Day 1 (Sunday)

ADELAIDE

Depart Adelaide aboard The Ghan. Unwind over lunch while travelling through the outskirts of Adelaide. Watch the rolling pastoral lands of South Australia merge in to rugged mallee scrub. Marvel as the spectacular Flinders Ranges disappear into the horizon. This evening, relax and enjoy the company of new found friends in the Lounge and dine in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant with an enticing range of menu options. Head back to your cabin for a good night’s sleep in anticipation of a striking outback sunrise. (L,D)

 

Day 2 (Monday)

ALICE SPRINGS

Wake up with a coffee or juice and witness an unforgettable outback sunrise off train at Marla, in the remote reaches of South Australia. Back on board, it’s time for brunch. Enjoy a light bite from the extensive menu or order something a little more substantial. After more incredible outback scenery, arrive into Alice Springs early in the afternoon and join an Off Train Excursion to explore the many facets of this historic outback city. (B,L,D)

 

Day 3 (Tuesday)

DARWIN

This morning after breakfast, The Ghan arrives into Katherine. Today you will discover the wonders of Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge with a variety of Off Train Excursions to choose from. Having worked up an appetite with your morning adventures, make your way to the Queen Adelaide Restaurant for a late lunch. Continue into the Outback Explorer Lounge before arriving in Darwin and transferring to your accommodation. (B,L)

 

Day 4 (Wednesday)

DARWIN

Combine three popular Darwin attractions in one easy ticket and learn more about the iconic reptiles and history of the Top End. Travelling aboard the Darwin Big Bus hop on hop off bus service, you will experience the celebrated scenery, landmarks and attractions of Darwin. Included in your ticket is entry to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and Crocosaurus Cove. The RFDS use the latest innovations in technology with this new and exciting world-class facility featuring holograms, virtual reality and a projection window of the Japanese air attack on the harbour. At Crocosaurus Cove be introduced to the world’s largest display of Australian reptiles and some of the largest Saltwater Crocodiles, right in the heart of Darwin city. View the freshwater aquarium with daily fish feeding, see over 70 Northern Territory reptile species in the reptile house and much more at Crocosaurus Cove. (B)

 

Day 5 (Thursday)

JUMPING CROCODILES

Just 60km from Darwin lies the Adelaide River, home to over 1,600 crocodiles and the location of the famous Jumping Crocodiles. Join this tour in the afternoon and travel down the Stuart Highway to the Adelaide River, enjoying commentary about the outskirts of Darwin along the way. Cruise the river and thrill as these awesome creatures launch themselves out of the water. The cruise will enable you to see these prehistoric creatures at close range. Afterwards continue to the Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre for views over the Marrakai Plains and then it’s on to Fogg Dam Nature Reserve to view a wetland ecosystem up close. It’s also a good opportunity to spot birds and other wildlife. (B)

DARWIN

This morning after breakfast, check out of your hotel. (B)
